Hi everyone, I have a new recipe for you today! I’ve made this recipe many times over the years. It seems to be a good one to make when you are going to a potluck dinner or a family gathering. It’s really easy to just put in the crockpot and forget about it. This recipe is great because you really can’t mess it up and you can adapt it to make for a crowd or just a few. Here’s how I make Easy Slow Cooker Baked Beans:
When we think of Thanksgiving, especially the first one we always remember the Indians (Native Americans) who ate with the Pilgrims. Day #17 of the 25 Days of Thanksgiving Series is all about Native American Indians.
I decided to include Candy Corn as Day #16 in the 25 Days of Thanksgiving Series. I know that Candy Corn is usually associated with Halloween, but it is such a fun fall treat that I thought it would be a good one to have with this series. There are so many fun crafts and snacks that go with candy corn, although there really aren’t any children’s books that focus just on candy corn.
Hi everyone! I just wanted to share with you what we’re doing for school for Christmas. Every year I try to find a different Christmas Unit Study to have fun with.
Here’s a list of all the ones we’ve done in the past (just to give you some ideas!):
- The Legend of the Candy Cane
- Christmas in the Big Woods (Little House)
- Madeline’s Christmas
- A New Coat for Anna (Five in a Row)
- Cranberry Christmas
- The 12 Days of Christmas
- Christmas Around the World
- The Polar Express
(FYI, most of those I found on either Homeschoolshare.com or Currclick.com and were either free or very inexpensive.)
This year I started looking early and was so excited to find this study on Currclick.com:
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is Day #13 of the 25 Days of Thanksgiving Series. The Parade is one of the highlights of Thanksgiving for our family. We have always looked forward to watching it while the turkey is cooking in the kitchen. It is so much fun to see the floats, marching bands and balloons!
One of my favorite things about Fall is Pumpkins! Everyone loves pumpkins. Day #11 in the 25 Days of Thanksgiving Series is all about Pumpkins.
I’m going to start with some of my favorite children’s books about Pumpkins:
Seed, Sprout, Pumpkin, Pie by Jill Esbaum
Day #8 of the 25 Days of Thanksgiving Series is going to focus on Turkeys. There are so many fun things for kids to do with Turkey themes for Thanksgiving! According to History.com, the Pilgrims and Indians most likely had turkey at the first Thanksgiving and so we always think of turkeys around this time of year.
Day #7 of the 25 Days of Thanksgiving Series is all about Cranberries. I first got the idea from one of our favorite Five in a Row books….
Cranberry Thanksgiving by Wende & Harry Devlin
Hi everyone! I have a new recipe for you today! Italian Bean Soup is perfect for this time of year, now that it’s getting cooler outside. I love to make a big pot of soup in my crockpot about once a week from Fall through early Spring. I found this recipe more than 5 years ago and we have loved it, it’s one of our favorites! I found it in this cookbook: 365 Quick, Easy & Inexpensive Dinner Menus by Penny E. Stone . (Actually, in the cookbook it tells you to cook it on the stove, but I have since converted it to a crockpot recipe)
Day #6 in the 25 Days of Thanksgiving series is going to focus on Pilgrims. Learning about Pilgrims can be very fun for kids and there are a lot of resources out there to help you! I’m going to share with you what I found to be the most useful and beneficial.
