Bedtime for Frances…fun activities with my Kindergartner

For this school year, 2017-2018, I am going to be doing The Frances Study Guide by Valerie Bendt with Princess. This will be her Kindergarten year of school and I thought it would be fun for both of us. This study guide covers the 6 books in the series about the little badger named Frances: Bedtime for Frances, A Baby Sister For Frances, Bread and Jam for Frances, A Birthday for Frances, Best Friends for Frances and A Bargain for Frances. These books are wonderful and the study guide is laid out somewhat like Five in a Row/Unit Study approach.

I have scheduled to cover one of these books with Princess each month and we will be doing them only about 2 days a week, about 1-2 activities each day. The activities are so neat and I think Princess will have a great time and it can be her one-on-one time with Mommy.

Our first book was Bedtime for Frances. We worked on this book during the month of August and Princess loved it.

Our Homeschool Curriculum Choices for School Year 2017-2018

I’ve been planning for our next school year for quite awhile now. As of right now, our plan is to start our new school year the first week of August. I can’t believe how fast summer has been going, it seems like it just got here! I thought I’d share with you the Curriculum that we’ve decided to use for each of the kids for the School Year 2017-2018. I have linked each one of these to online stores where you can look at them, if you want to click on the links.

Betsy Ross Designer of our Flag (BYFIAR)

I got so behind with posting about each chapter that Popstar does for her Beyond Five in a Row and realized that it was too much for me to keep up with. So, from now on I have decided to just write one post at the end of each book and to post about all of the highlights of what we did with each book. We typically spend anywhere from 1 to 4 days on each chapter and have finished one book every 2 to 3 months of the school year.

Her last Beyond book from this last school year was Betsy Ross, Designer of our Flag. She started this book at the end of March this past school year. She finished it up by the end of May, when we were done with our school year.

Saying good-bye to Preschool

My baby, my youngest (who I call Princess on the blog) just turned 5 in May. She just finished up Preschool and will be beginning Kindergarten this next school year.

I am feeling a little bit lost, as this will be my first homeschool year EVER that I don’t have either an infant, toddler or preschooler. All 4 of my kids will be Elementary School age and older.

I am also feeling a little sad that I’m saying not “good-bye”, but I hope “see you later” to my cherished and favorite Preschool curriculum, Before Five in a Row.
