It’s hard for me to believe that my baby “graduated” from this program this last May when she turned 5! I wanted to tell you about this wonderful program that we’ve participated in since our oldest was about 3 years old. We first found out about it at our local Library. It’s called “Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.”
It’s a very simple program. It is for any child ages newborn to 5 years old. You can register them at the website I listed below. You will need to give them your child’s name, address and birthday in order to register.
They send every child “The Little Engine that Could” the first month and the last month “Look out Kindergarten, Here I Come!”.
Then they will send your child a brand new book in the mail every month until the month of their 5th birthday. They try to make them age and gender appropriate for the most part. For example, when my little ones were infants/toddlers they mostly received board books. As they got older, they received books more appropriate for their age and gender.
We have gotten some really wonderful books over the years that have become family favorites and we have read them over and over. The excitement every month when a book came in the mail was awesome. The kids would tear into their new book and we’d have to read it right away. You know that kids love getting mail and they love books, so this is such a gem for kids and it’s all FREE!
You can learn more about this wonderful program by visiting their website: Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
If your kids are too old for the program, please pass this info along to anyone you think may be able to participate. I think it’s great for kids to be excited about books at a young age, reading is so important!
Blessings and Happy Reading!
