Today I wanted to share with you a few of our favorite children’s books about Trees! Here are 6 wonderful books we love to read at our house:
A Caldecott Medal winner, this book has beautiful illustrations with very simple text about trees. It goes through the seasons of the year and describes the many purposes of trees in a very sweet, everyday sort of way. The artwork is done with alternating black/white pages along with rich, bright and colorful pages. It is a nice variety that compliments the text very well.
This book is in the educational series of Dr. Seuss books. It combines silliness with learning about all different kinds of trees in a way that both adults and kids enjoy. Who doesn’t love a good Dr. Seuss book?! We love this series at our house!
This book is great in the Fall around apple season, but it actually goes through the entire year in the life of an apple tree, so it can be used anytime you are learning about trees and seasons. It’s a sweet story about two sisters and in the end they bake an apple pie with their mom. This would be a great book to read with your kids and then bake an apple pie together.
I love all the “We’re Going on a ….Hunt” type of books. They are so much fun, especially with younger kids. This one is neat because they discover leaves from all different kinds of trees.
This book is a sweet story about a tree and a boy. The boy keeps wanting more and the tree keeps giving until it has nothing left. It teaches about true sacrifice and love in relationships as well.
I love all of Leo Lionni’s children’s books, they are so neat! This one is about two mice who are taking care of a tree. It starts with January and goes through each month of the year about what the tree is doing and comes full circle to Christmas in December. It is a fun book to learn about trees through the year as well as the months of the year.
I hope you get a chance to check out some of these books and share them with your kids. What books about trees do you enjoy? I would love to hear from you! Please feel free to comment.
