One of our local museums, The Museum of York County, has a wonderful summer program for kids every Wednesday morning. We’ve been trying to attend as many of them as we can this summer and a few weeks ago they had an awesome program!
It was about one of my favorite animals, Owls (and other raptor birds)! They actually had a lady from The Carolina Raptor Center in Charlotte come in and bring 4 different animals. She showed them to us one at a time and talked to us about them. It was my favorite by far of all their summer programs!
Every summer they also have a new theme that is geared towards kids in their rotating exhibit rooms. Last summer it was Dinosaurs and this summer it is Smokey the Bear and forest care themed. We have been having a lot of fun with all their hands-on activities for the kids! This museum has been such a blessing to us. They even have indoor and outdoor picnic tables, walking trails with a stream as well as an amazing hands-on exploration room called the Naturalist Center. For homeschoolers, this is a major resource and we enjoy it very much!
Here are some pictures from our morning at the museum: (Please bear with me, I took all these with my phone camera!)
