Our Vacation to Charleston, SC

Memorial Day Weekend we took a few days and went to Charleston, SC. My father-in-law has been here with us and so he came along as well. I thought I would share with you a little about our adventures!

We camped at Mt. Pleasant KOA, which was a wonderful campground! There was a children’s playground right beside our tent site, a pool and very convenient showers and bathrooms. We were also right beside a lake, which was nice but brought a lot of mosquitoes!

Our first day of vacation, we spent all day at Patriots Point. We toured through the USS Yorktown Aircraft Carrier, a submarine and a battleship. It was a little hot, but it was so much fun!

On our second day, we spent the morning at a beach at Isle of Palms. This was my father-in-law’s very first time seeing the ocean! Even though the beach was extremely crowded, we still had a lot of fun! This was also the first time Princess and Hulk had seen the ocean because the last time they were only 3yrs and 4mos old. So they didn’t really remember it much. They could’ve stayed all day long, they loved it so much!

Later, we visited the Angel Oak Tree. This tree is around 500 years old! It is so beautiful.

On our third day, we went to the Charles Pinckney Historic Site. We toured the house and land then had a picnic lunch. It was interesting to learn about this man who had fought in the Revolutionary War as well as helped write the US Constitution and served in government for many years.

That afternoon we drove to downtown Charleston. We shopped at the Market and drove around downtown. Charleston is such a beautiful city!

On our fourth and last day, we packed up our tent and equipment in the morning. Then we headed to Boone Hall Plantation for one last fun activity. It was so beautiful. We toured the house, took a wagon ride all around the property and saw their butterfly garden. It was so much fun and a great way to end our vacation.

    1. That's awesome Leah. I love Charleston too! Kathryne may know Tammy Gillespie's two oldest girls will be at that college this year as well. It's such a beautiful city.
