Popstar finished up Chapter 16 of her Beyond Five in a Row book, Thomas A. Edison Young Inventor, back in March.
(Please note: This post contains lessons from the Beyond Five in a Row Volume 1 Manual as well as activities added by me and inspired by other homeschool moms.)
Chapter 16 is called “Moving Pictures” and in this chapter a Wild West Show comes to town. Tom and his friend James are excited to go. They were also working on an experiment making paper dolls dance using static electricity. At the show, there is a Panorama show. Tom was amazed by it and inspired to continue experimenting with moving pictures.
We spent two school days on this chapter.
Day One: Popstar read the chapter and answered the Writing/Discussion Questions in her notebook. After that, we went over the History/Geograpy Lesson on Wild West Shows. We read over the lesson and then looked up some of the real Wild West Heroes online.
Day Two: Popstar read over the Bible lesson, which was about dancing. (Tom’s paper dolls “danced.”) Then we worked on the Science lesson on Electricity. We looked up some videos on You Tube about how Electricity works. We found this one and watched it. It was not very long and was easy to understand.
There were a lot of other art lessons on moving pictures, paper dolls, panoramas, and home movies that we just didn’t have time for. So, that was all we did for chapter 16. The next one, Chapter 17 is the last one in this book!
Until next time,
