The Little Rabbit (B4FIAR)

Princess just finished up The Little Rabbit for Preschool (Before Five in a Row). We took a little bit longer on this one. As we’re getting close to the end of the school year, she seems to want to play more than do “school work”. So we just take it very slow and whenever she’s excited about doing school I try to get in as much as I can!  We didn’t get to all the activities that I had hoped for with this book, but it all worked out!

Library Appreciation Day

Our homeschool support group (YEAH..York Educators At Home) designates two weeks every April for us to show our local library our appreciation for all they do to help us as homeschoolers. Yesterday we participated in that at our local branch. We’ve been going to the same library branch ever since our oldest was a baby so our kids have literally grown up there. Even now, we visit the library typically once a week so the library is a very important part of our homeschooling. So when I have a chance to say Thank You to them, I always try to take part.

We took some mason jars and filled them with pre-wrapped hard candy. Then I cut out pieces of fabric to fit over the top and we attached a small card with some twine. I wrote a nice thank you note in the cards. We visited each department of the library and told them what we were doing and gave them the little gift. They were all very excited and enjoyed our visit very much.

This was a very simple way to teach my kids how to show appreciation to people who are helpful to us and sometimes overlooked. It was also one of those times in life when I was just too busy to slow down and take pictures, so this was about all I got as we were heading into the library! Oh well…

Our short visit to “Mayberry”!!

Easter weekend, we made a quick trip to Pennsylvania to bring my father-in-law down for a visit. Since we live in South Carolina, that is a very long drive. So we decided to stop in at Mt. Airy, NC along the way to stretch our legs some. This town is so neat! It is the hometown of Andy Griffith and they have all kinds of neat things to see and do.

I thought I would share with you some pictures from our time there.

Enjoying the beauty of Spring…

A few days ago we spent an afternoon at a local garden.  I couldn’t help but enjoy the beautiful flowers and revel in the beauty of this season of Spring. It is so refreshing after Winter is finally gone! We’re very blessed to have this beautiful garden that is only a few minutes drive from our house and open to the pubic. I just wanted to share a little with you…
