We finally had some snow this past weekend! We were all so excited because at first it looked like we were only getting rain but it did end up turning to snow! It only snowed lightly for a few hours and then stopped. So we ended up with just a dusting, but when you live in South Carolina, a dusting of snow is a really big deal.
Growing up in Maryland, we had tons of snow and sometimes I miss the fun part of having snow. I can remember playing the entire day outside sledding, building snowmen and snow forts and having snowball fights. Then we’d come inside and throw pieces of ice on the wood stove and listen to them sizzle! After that my mom would always make us hot chocolate. I really have very fond memories of snow days. In some ways though I’m glad that we live in an area that doesn’t get much snow as an adult. It would be hard to be snowed in a lot and having to shovel snow and ice is never fun as well as driving in it! So I guess I’m lucky in that I get the best of both worlds.
The kids had a great time playing out in the snow, even though there really wasn’t much they could do. I thought I would share a few pictures!
It was a great day! We spent the afternoon with hot chocolate and playing board games. Doesn’t get much better than that!
How do you like to spend snow days? I’d love to hear from you, please feel free to comment.
