Baked Macaroni & Cheese Recipe

Spread the love

Hi everyone! I have a new recipe for you today! I got out my Five in a Row Cookbook by Becky Jane Lambert for Thanksgiving and made our favorite version of Baked Macaroni & Cheese that is listed to go along with the Five in a Row book Storm in the Night. We made this back in July and the family decided that this was our favorite! For our family’s Thanksgiving dinner I actually quadrupled the recipe so that we would have plenty of leftover. It was a huge hit with everyone!

Here’s how we made it:

Step #1   Gather Ingredients:

  1. 1 1/2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
  2. 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  3. 1/2 tsp salt
  4. 1/4 tsp pepper
  5. 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  6. 1 3/4 cups milk
  7. 8 oz American process cheese, cubed

Step #2   Preheat oven to 375°. Cook noodles according to package directions.

Step #3  Melt margarine with salt and pepper over medium heat in a small saucepan. Stir in flour. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly for 30 seconds. Stir in milk and heat to boiling, stirring constantly for 1 minute.

Step #4  Remove from heat and stir in cheese until melted.

Step #5   Place macaroni noodles in an ungreased 1 1/2-quart casserole dish. Stir cheese sauce into macaroni. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes.
