The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is Day #13 of the 25 Days of Thanksgiving Series. The Parade is one of the highlights of Thanksgiving for our family. We have always looked forward to watching it while the turkey is cooking in the kitchen. It is so much fun to see the floats, marching bands and balloons!
I thought it would be neat to learn about the history of how this parade got started. I found a few books about it:
Balloons Over Broadway by Melissa Sweet
Milly and the Macy’s Parade by Shana Corey
Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade by Robert M. Grippo
Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade: A New York City Holiday Tradition by Stephen M. Silverman
LIFE: America’s Parade by Editors of Life
There isn’t much more to share about this subject. I hope that you enjoy the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with your family this year! Maybe if you study it a little bit for school, your kids will be super excited about watching it! I know we always enjoy it here at our house.
