Our oldest son (who we call Flash on the blog) has been waiting forever to play football. He finally started a few weeks ago through a really awesome local program that we found called Victory Sports Outreach. We have never wanted sports to take over our family, but we do want our kids to be able to participate in organized sports that they are passionate about and enjoy. This worked out to be a great fit for us. They practice one evening a week for one hour and then they play a one hour game every Saturday. This goes on for about 2 months. Also, I’m relieved that this is flag football and not tackle!
So it seemed to be not too overwhelming for us and has given him the chance to play football and he LOVES it! The other thing I like about this program is that they really care about the kids spiritually as well as physically. At every practice and game, they have a devotion time and they pray with the kids. I wasn’t expecting that part, but I really do like it. So far it has been a great experience for us and Flash is having the time of his life!
