I have a new dessert recipe for you today! This is a recipe that I have been making for over 12 years at least and I honestly cannot remember where I first found it. Probably in a magazine somewhere, because that was long before I started using Pinterest and other websites to find recipes! Jason loves for me to make this for us to have for dessert. It’s so easy and delicious and always such a treat! So far the kids do not like it though. Something about the coconut maybe. They are funny about certain foods….I’m sure mine are the only ones like that, wink wink. But Jason and I love it and so I continue to make it, hoping that someday the kids will try it and like it!
Yesterday was our first day of the new school year! We like to take off about 6 weeks through June and the beginning of July. We usually start back the second week of July. It seems to work the best for us, so we can be more flexible throughout the year. Plus a lot of the book studies we do with Five in a Row are summertime and it’s fun to work on those while it’s still summer. The kids grades this year are: Popstar 7th, Flash 5th, Hulk 2nd and Princess Preschool. I’m excited about our school year! We have a lot of fun things planned to study and I’m looking forward to it!
Our Homeschool Room has evolved over the years so much. I know I talked in a previous post about how we started homeschooling and I mentioned that we started in a corner of the living room. We called it our “School Corner” when Popstar and Flash were just doing fun Preschool activities.
It seems like over the years, it slowly took over our entire living room. It was manageable, but getting hard to deal with. We were always rearranging and trying to figure out the most efficient way to use our small space. That was just a way of life in our old house and we were content with life that way for many years.
But as the kids started growing bigger and bigger and bigger….we were really busting at the seams! God blessed us so much with our new house! Making do with an extremely small house for almost 10 years made us really appreciate our new house. When we started looking at houses, we knew that we needed some sort of school space. Each house we considered was laid our differently.
The first time we walked into the house we ended up buying, we both knew that it was “The One”. There is an extra living space off of the living room that is perfect for our school room. It even has built in cabinet/storage spaces and huge windows that brings in tons of sunshine. We are incredibly blessed and thankful for this new house, especially because of the school room. I never thought I would have a school room but I’m also very thankful for the years that I had to do without because that made me appreciate it so much more. Here are a few pictures of our school room.
We had a lot of fun celebrating the 4th of July! The last few years our family has come over to our house for a cookout and fireworks. Holidays are so much fun because we have many traditions that go along with each of them. I love having family traditions that the kids can look forward to all year long! We are so blessed to live in the greatest country in the world. I’m not sure how celebrating our country’s birthday ended up being about fireworks and cookouts, but I know it sure is a lot of fun!
Hi friends! I made these super easy pencil holders for the kids to use on their desks for the new school year. They turned out really cute and were so easy to make! I thought I would share how I made them with you.
We’re starting our new school year on July 11, 2016. I thought I would share with you the curriculum we’ll be using for each child.
I found this idea for an easy 4th of July wreath that I am working on and thought I would share how to make it. I first found it on Pinterest at this blog: Home Crafts by Ali. I have since then seen many different versions. So I took all the ideas and sort of made my own.
