Vacation Bible School

Last week the kids attended the Vacation Bible School at a local church, Ebenezer Presbyterian. This is not our home church, but we love this church’s VBS program and this was our 5th summer attending. They do their VBS in the morning, from 9am-noon. It is really hard to find a church doing daytime VBS these days, it seems like most churches do them at night. Anyway, this church does such an amazing job with their VBS program and the kids LOVE it! Their theme this year was “Come Dig In And Grow With Us”, so the whole week was all about gardens basically. They learned about the Garden of Eden, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Fruit of the Spirit, the Parable of the Sower and the verses about how God is the vine and we are the branches. It was a wonderful week and the kids had so much fun!

Their cousins attended with them, so that made it even more special! This was Princesses first time going to VBS and she absolutely LOVED it! I was so happy because I wasn’t sure if she was going to want to go without me, but she had a blast! Popstar went along with her class, since she was really too old to attend and she had a good time helping in the class. They had snacks for them every day at the end, which the kids loved. They made some really neat crafts, including planting some seeds, painting T-shirts, and these really cool Fruit of the Spirit canvas art.

At the end of the week on Friday evening they had a ceremony where the kids sang several of the songs they had learned. Then afterwards they had a meal and some awesome water slides inflatables for the kids to play on. We all had a really great time!

I’m so glad that we found this church for the kids to attend VBS. I can remember going to a local church for VBS when I was growing up and I loved it and wanted my kids to have the same feeling. It’s nice to know that in this world where things are constantly changing, some things do stay the same. I’m thankful for churches who reach out to the community and try to train our children to live for God. It doesn’t get much better than that.
