unless you are my mom, sister or hubby, then you perhaps may already know most of these. But this will challenge even those who know me. 🙂
So here goes……..
#1. I have been to 30 of the 50 US States! Yes, thanks to my wonderful sister and her moving around over the last 12 years, I have at least driven through if not spent time in 30 of the states in this great country. This is pretty awesome for me, because one of my “Bucket List” items is to get to all 50 states! Only 20 more to go!
#2. Even though I have been to 30 different states, I have only lived in 3 of them! Maryland (19 years), North Carolina (6 months) and South Carolina (20 years). Yes, as with the majority of things in my life I have been almost the complete opposite of my dear sister. I am the type of person who enjoys being settled in one place, so long as I’m with my hubby. Although I do love to travel and see new places!
#3. Speaking of travel, one of my hubby and my dreams is to own an RV and go “RVing” across the country! Maybe someday…
#4. Most of you know that I am a HUGE Lucy fan, but did you know that (thanks to my amazing Mom and wonderful hubby) I own the entire collection of Lucy Barbie dolls that were made? This collection includes very rare dolls that they only made a thousand of, like the Ethel and Fred Santas. The entire collection sells for over $5,000 on ebay!
#5. I started going to college right after high school to be an elementary school teacher. I never finished and instead got married at age 20 and I now AM a teacher after all….I homeschool my four beautiful children!
#6. Speaking of my children, even though I love kids and always wanted to be a mom, I was scared STIFF about being pregnant and the whole process of having a baby. Our firstborn was a “surprise” pregnancy and sure threw us for a wild ride. But I wouldn’t change a thing, I’m grateful for each one of my kids and for every moment I get to be their mom.
#7. The only time I’ve ever had surgery was when I was 4 years old and had my appendix out. Now that I’m a mom and my littlest one is 4 years old, I can’t imagine how traumatic that experience was for my own mom! The only other times I’ve been in the hospital since then was to have my 4 babies. Hopefully I won’t ever have to be in the hospital again…
#8. One of my favorite animals are owls. I was never drawn to owls until we studied them with our homeschool curriculum, Five in a Row and did the book Owl Moon back in Popstar’s Kindergarten year. We went to the Carolina Raptor Center in Charlotte, NC and I fell in love with them. Now I see the cutest owl patterns on things and tend to collect them here and there along the way.
#9. Growing up I literally loathed football. So what did I do? I married a guy who LOVES football! Of course, this did not become apparent to me until we’d been married for a few years and his love for the Carolina Panthers started getting bigger and bigger. For a long time I rejected the idea and wouldn’t even be in the same room while he was watching a game. Slowly, over time I realized that his passion for football was not going to go away anytime soon. So I decided that I was going to learn how to enjoy football with him. I started staying in the room when the game was on and started asking lots of questions. I finally started understanding more about the game and have since learned to enjoy football, but only while watching it with him. I decided it wasn’t worth it to let something like football draw us apart, so I set out to let it bring us closer and it has been great for our marriage!
#10. The first movie I ever went to see in the theatre was “Three Men and a Baby” way way back in the late 1980’s when I was but 10 years old. I was with my mom and sister and so they would definitely know this one!
As a matter of fact, my mom, sis and hubby probably do already know all of these facts, but it was fun to write them anyway! It’s neat how you can know someone for years and still discover things about them you never knew. Aren’t you glad God made all of us different and unique? I know I am!
I hope you have a blessed day!
