Play With Me by Marie Hall Ets was the last Before Five in a Row book I finished up with Princess. I don’t have many pictures of this one, she wasn’t very interested in doing anything with this book, which was very strange for her. I had hoped to visit a pond and that never happened so I’m sure if we had been able to it would’ve been alot more exciting to her.
This story is about a little girl who goes out to the meadow early one morning and tries to get animals to play with her. None of them want to play and so she sits down and is quiet and after that, all the animals come back to her.
We read alot of books about pond life and pond animals, Princess enjoyed those.
We used the Before FIAR manual and went over most of the lessons and made a lapbook from homeschoolshare.com
We talked about the animals in the story and classified them. We talked about how the little girl felt in the story when the animals wouldn’t play with her and then how happy she was when they did. Also about how sometimes we have to be patient and quiet. We also learned what “Dew” is and found some dew one morning in the grass.
She had alot of fun making the lapbook. For one piece in the lapbook, we talked about which of the animals in the book that Princess would enjoy playing with. Also, the Who Am I? Riddles were fun.
There isn’t much more to share, this is just one of those books that didn’t go as well as I’d hoped and planned for but I feel like she still got alot out of it. This will be Princess’s last row for this school year. It’s hard to believe she only has one more year of Preschool before she starts Kindergarten. She needs to slow down a little!
