One great thing I have started doing in the last year is freezer meals. It is so nice to have a freezer full of meals that are ready to go in the crock pot. It not only helps save you time but also money because you don’t end up buying fast food on those days when you just don’t have time to cook. It has been a life saver for our family! My hubby and I put together some at the end of November so that we’d have them to get us through the holidays and it was so nice. It really made the holidays a lot more enjoyable knowing that I didn’t have to spend a lot of time cooking dinner.
Recently my sister and I worked together to make some freezer meals. It is a way for us to not only help our family, but to spend some time together as well. We started with a bunch of food, from Aldi mostly and ended up with 10 meals for each of us. This time we used some meals plans from a website that I love, I Am That Lady. She has put together several freezer meal plans shopping at Aldi, which we love because it already saves you so much money! Once you get used to doing it, you can pretty much use almost any recipes your family enjoys.
We spent a total of $140 and ended up with 10 meals for each of us. These meals included ribs, pork chops, pot roast, several chicken meals, pork roast, beef stew, ropa vieja (made with steak meat) and an extra few pounds of ground beef. We figured up that each meal ended up costing around $7 and that’s not bad for feeding our large families!
