Hi everyone! I have discovered something incredible for cooking with Crock Pots/Slow Cookers recently and I wanted to share it with you: Crock Pot Liners. I use my Crock Pot literally at least twice a week and the idea of not having to clean it out each time is immensely appealing to me.
Last Christmas, I received a new Crock Pot from Jason and along with it he also gave me a case, not just a box, but a CASE of Crock Pot liners! So I learned how to use them and I was very impressed with how well they work! You can read more about them here: Crock Pot Liners (Please note: This is a page where you can purchase them, but I have no association with this company and my blog does not benefit from you viewing or purchasing.)
Soup is a staple in our house, especially during winter. We usually have a different kind of soup each week, depending on how our menu works out. I love to make soup because it is easy and we almost always have leftovers. Leftovers are great because then I don’t have to do as much cooking for the next nights dinner! I’m all for that! Feel free to check out my other soup/stew recipes here: In The Kitchen, Soups & Stews
So I thought I would share with you my recipe for Crockpot Beef Chili. I’ve been making this recipe for probably at least 10 years. It feels so strange to say that, 10 years. It seems like just yesterday that I was a newlywed just learning how to cook…my how time flies!
Hi everyone. It’s been awhile since I’ve posted on the blog. My goal for right now is to post at least one to two times a week, so we’ll see how that goes. I have a lot that I want to share with you all, but I’m still trying to figure out how to balance it all. I’m homeschooling all 4 of my kids in regular school grades now and I’m preparing for my oldest to begin High School next year, so that along with the holidays and craft events has taken over my life. Now that the holidays are over, things are hopefully settling down as we are settling back into our school day routines.
I wanted to wish you a Happy New Year and to share with you my Word for the Year. For the past about 5 years, I have prayed for God to give me a Word to focus my life on for the coming year. Most of the time, the word just pops into my head and I know without a doubt this is the one. I usually have great peace about it and it typically applies to how I’m feeling at the time.
My Word for 2018 is BELIEVE. I want to challenge myself to this year to use this word in several areas of my life. First, I want to Believe that God is working in my life and working all things together for my good. The Bible clearly says that when we ask and BELIEVE, then things will happen. We can ask for things all day long, but things aren’t going to happen until we start to believe in what we’re asking for and believe that God is going to answer. I want to believe more in His word as I work to spend more time reading my Bible and memorizing scriptures.
Second, I want to learn to believe in myself that I am capable of doing so much more than I ever imagined. In my 41 years, I have been through so many different situations (like I’m sure everyone else has too) that have molded me and made me who I am today. I want to believe that God will be my strength as I go through trials and hard times as well as the good times. As with all of us, God is still working on me and I don’t believe He will ever be completely finished with me until He calls me home. I want to be the clay for Him to make me what He wants me to be and I can’t do that if I don’t believe I am worthy of His time and love.
Last, I want to believe in myself as being a good wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend to all those around me. I want to make a difference in this world and I can’t do that if I don’t believe in myself.
So those are just a few thoughts from my heart this afternoon. What are your desires for this new year? Do you have a Word for the year? What is your focus this year on bettering yourself?
Blessings to all,
Hi everyone! The past two months, I haven’t been on the blog really at all. Life has just been crazy for me and I needed to focus on my family and homeschool. I’m hoping to start posting more regularly after the holidays are over. I have a lot of things I want to share with you, but as some of you may know running a blog can be very time consuming!
I just wanted to take a minute and wish you all a very Merry Christmas!! I hope that you have a joyous Christmas and New Years with your loved ones as you celebrate! May God bless you and keep you.
Merry Christmas from our family to yours!!
I decided to take a day off from our regular Homeschool “book work” on Columbus Day this year (Oct. 9th, a few weeks ago). I used a few resources and put together a small one day unit study for all 4 of the kids. It turned out great and the kids were excited to have a change of pace.
I thought I would share with you what all we did. I started with looking in my Five in a Row Holiday book and my Early Childhood Almanac for ideas. I love both of these books, they have wonderful ideas for holidays all through the year. I also looked on Pinterest a little bit and found a few things to do there.
Awhile back we tried a new recipe that Jason found called Crunchwrap Supreme. It was so good the kids have been begging us to make it again! I thought I would share with you how we made it. We found this recipe on delish.com, Click HERE to view it..
Popstar is completing Volumes 2 and 3 of Beyond Five in a Row for this school year. Her first book from Volume 1 was Sarah, Plain and Tall. She started it back in August and finished up in September. This is such a wonderful book and there were so many fun activities that go along with it!
We had so much fun at the Carolina Renaissance Festival Student Days last week! Jason and I have been several times by ourselves over the years, but this was the first time we took the kids. We had such a great day! I thought I would share some pictures with you of our day…
Hi everyone! I decided a few weeks ago to purchase an Essential Oil Diffuser for our school room to see if it would help us any. I had heard a lot of other homeschoolers talk about them and figured I’d give it a try. In the past, we’ve used Lavender oil for calming and so I thought it may help our school days to be more peaceful.
I didn’t do a whole lot of research, I just looked on Amazon and chose one that was in my price range, was a good seller and had a lot of good reviews. I chose this one: URPOWER 2nd Version Essential Oil Diffuser.
Back at the end of August, I finished up our second Five in a Row book with Flash, Hulk and Princess. The book was Gramma’s Walk by Anna Grossnickle Hines. We had a lot of fun with this book. Most of our focus was on the beach, ocean, lighthouses, etc. and that is always fun! We spent two weeks in August on this book.
